FAQS
How long does the All-on-4 or Permanent Teeth-in-1-Day procedure take?
The entire surgical procedure is completed in ONE day. Prior to surgery, you will have a consultation with Dr. Botbol where CT Scans, X-rays and other necessary measurements will be taken. You will also pick the shade and shape of the tooth/teeth and discuss any concerns with Dr. Botbol. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Botbol will perform any extractions and place the implants, followed by a set of custom, highly aesthetic temporary teeth. Your temporary teeth will be replaced shortly after by a set of permanent, natural-looking and fully functional replacement teeth!
I’ve heard that it takes at least 6-12 months to heal before you can get your permanent set of replacement teeth, so how is this all done in just one visit?
Traditional All-on-4 procedures often require multiple visits prior to the actual surgery. An in-house of outside lab will fabricate a denture for you that will be fitted onto your implants following placement. Several try-ins will be required until the final set of permanent teeth is ready (the original denture with a titanium bar). Contrary to what people believe, the process does not take long because of healing time required. Rather the titanium bar adds stability to the implants and with the right technology and capabilities, such a procedure could be completed in one visit. Dr. Botbol uses an improved All-on-4 technique in order to combine his expertise with some of the most most advanced milling machines in the world. Using these technologies, he is able to fabricate a permanent bridge in just one visit, allowing you to enjoy full functionality immediately following surgery!
Is having 6 implants better and more stable than having 4?
Not necessarily. Regardless of how many implants are used in your restoration (i.e. 3, 4, 5, 6), each implant is vital in the success of whole. Usually, 6 implants require bone grafting and/or sinus lifts – they are also usually more costly and have higher failure rates. More implants can also reduce your natural bone area; whereas the All-on-4 procedure can prevent this. Overall, the All-on-4 procedure has the same or better success rate as traditional implants. In some cases, Dr. Botbol may determine that more than 4 implants would be beneficial and feasible and he will discuss this with you at your consultation.
