FAQs

How long does the All-on-4 or Permanent Teeth-in-1-Day procedure take?

The entire surgical procedure is completed in ONE day. Prior to surgery, you will have a consultation with Dr. Botbol where CT Scans, X-rays and other necessary measurements will be taken. You will also pick the shade and shape of the tooth/teeth and discuss any concerns with Dr. Botbol. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Botbol will perform any extractions and place the implants, followed by a set of custom, highly aesthetic temporary teeth. Your temporary teeth will be replaced shortly after by a set of permanent, natural-looking and fully functional replacement teeth!

I’ve heard that it takes at least 6-12 months to heal before you can get your permanent set of replacement teeth, so how is this all done in just one visit?

Traditional All-on-4 procedures often require multiple visits prior to the actual surgery. An in-house of outside lab will fabricate a denture for you that will be fitted onto your implants following placement. Several try-ins will be required until the final set of permanent teeth is ready (the original denture with a titanium bar). Contrary to what people believe, the process does not take long because of healing time required. Rather the titanium bar adds stability to the implants and with the right technology and capabilities, such a procedure could be completed in one visit. Dr. Botbol uses an improved All-on-4 technique in order to combine his expertise with some of the most most advanced milling machines in the world. Using these technologies, he is able to fabricate a permanent bridge in just one visit, allowing you to enjoy full functionality immediately following surgery!

Is having 6 implants better and more stable than having 4?

Not necessarily. Regardless of how many implants are used in your restoration (i.e. 3, 4, 5, 6), each implant is vital in the success of whole. Usually, 6 implants require bone grafting and/or sinus lifts – they are also usually more costly and have higher failure rates. More implants can also reduce your natural bone area; whereas the All-on-4 procedure can prevent this. Overall, the All-on-4 procedure has the same or better success rate as traditional implants. In some cases, Dr. Botbol may determine that more than 4 implants would be beneficial and feasible and he will discuss this with you at your consultation.

What do Teeth-in-1-Day bridges feel like?

Initially, some patients may feel strange with their new All-on-4 implants. The mouth may first feel like the implants are a foreign object – especially if you have had bad or missing teeth for years. However, the new sensation will quickly subside and before you know it, the All-on-4 bridges will feel and function as close to natural teeth as possible.

What is an arch?

You have two arches – your upper (maxillary) jaw and lower (mandibular) jaw.

How do I know what my teeth will look like?

When you come in for your consultation, we will spend some time looking through smile galleries and before/after photos of real patients. Using our vast technology, we can digitally simulate your smile before beginning treatment. You can also bring in photos of your ideal or previously healthy smile. Using digital design technology, we will incorporate as many aesthetic components as possible, while still maintaining optimal functionality.

What if I have dental anxiety?

The staff at Dr. Botbol’s dental office is unlike any other. We are warm, welcoming and understanding. We strive to make our patients feel comfortable in our care while delivering exceptional and professional service. We have an on-site anesthesiologist who can provide conscious sedation when patients desire.

Am I required to be in public videos or before and after photos?

Absolutely not.

Is there a guarantee on Dental Implants?

Yes, dental implants are guaranteed for life, with regular oral health maintenance. Smoking voids warranty.

How much pain is involved?

Patients generally report little pain and only moderate soreness, regardless of how many teeth are extracted. Any discomfort will usually subside within 72 hours or less.

Will I be sedated?

Our licensed, on-site Anesthesiologist will administer conscious sedation. This combination of a sedative and anesthetic will help you relax and block pain during the procedure. Conscious sedation also helps you recover quickly following the procedure.

What medications will be prescribed?

Antibiotics (i.e. Amoxicillin) and anti-inflammatory (i.e. Decadron) is taken prior to and following surgery to expedite healing and Peridex (i.e. Chlorhexdine gluconate) for rinsing following surgery.

How long is surgery?

The surgical portion of the procedure is usually 1-2 hours per arch (upper/lower).

What if I am a smoker?

In order for surgery to be effective, we ask that you quit smoking prior to the procedure. Cigarette smoking is associated with periodontal disease, bone/tissue/tooth loss, dental implant failure, and other oral health conditions. The nicotine found in tobacco also reduces blood flow in the mouth, which is detrimental to implants.

Do I need to have my teeth extracted first?

In most cases, Dr. Botbol can complete all extractions on the same day as surgery. It is important that teeth are extracted carefully in order to preserve maximum bone density. Compromising bone structure can affect later implant placement.

How are implants placed immediately following extractions?

This procedure is the least invasive. Following extractions and implants, the gum will be totally closed up so no socket is exposed. Pain and swelling is reduced to the point that 9/10 patients do not even need pain medication after this procedure!

I’ve been told that I don’t have enough bone for dental implants. Am I still a candidate?

90% of patients who have been previously told that they are not candidates for dental implants are candidates for the All-on-4 procedure. This is because the All-on-4 procedure maximizes the dense bone in the frontal jaw – so often, bone/sinus grafting is not required.

Are there payment plans available?

We are proud to offer 3rd party financing at our office.

How much does the procedure cost?

For current pricing, please contact our office.

Does insurance cover any part of the procedure?

Typically, insurance companies may cover extractions necessary at $300-500 per extraction. As a courtesy, we will send a claim to your insurance company with all of the required documentation. Any refund will be paid directly to you following the procedure.

When is full payment due?

Full payment is due at the time of surgery. Any financing must be arranged no later than 2 weeks prior to surgery.

I cannot afford this procedure. Are there any other options?

Although we offer this procedure at costs well below the national average, it may still be too costly to some. Dr. Botbol will do everything in his power to make the procedure feasible for you, without compromising the quality of his work. We encourage you to sign up for our mailing list so that you will be notified in the event of any promotions or other helpful information.

How often should I have my new Teeth-in-1-Day permanent replacement teeth professionally cleaned?

Bridges should be professionally cleaned at minimum every 6 months. The durability and long-term success of your implants is greatly dependent on proper maintenance.

How do I care for my new Teeth-in-1-Day permanent replacement teeth?

Teeth-in-1-Day permanent replacement teeth need to be brushed and cared for like natural teeth – 3 times a day with a toothbrush and toothpaste, for 2 minutes total brushing time. Electronic toothbrushes are highly recommended. In the seven days following the placement of your new teeth, use the rotary brush and prescription rinse provided by our office to clean under your bridges. After a week, you may start using a Waterpik after each meal (if possible), in the morning and before you go to bed. This will prevent plaque build up under your bridges.

What if something happens after I leave?

In the rare case of infection or excessive pain or swelling, Dr. Botbol will call your local pharmacy to fill a prescription. In these cases, medication is the only form of treatment. In the very rare case of an emergency, we will find a local dentist to treat you or we will bring you back to our office. However, rest assured that Dr. Botbol will go above and beyond to correct any issues, if they arise. Overall patient satisfaction is our top priority.

What is a Waterpik and how do I use it?

A Waterpik is a water flosser that combines water pressure and pusations to massage gums and remove plaque from deep between the teeth and gumline. It is ideal for those who have difficulty flossing, and for those with implants, crowns, bridges, or deep periodontal pockets

What if I want to change the shade or look of my new teeth after the procedure?

The best thing to do is return to our office within 4-6 months of your procedure. At this time, we will check how your implants are integrated and make changes to the bridges if you wish.

Will food get under my bridges?

Yes. There is a small space between your bridges and your gums, which is why we recommend using a Waterpik to properly clean the space twice a day.

What foods can I eat following surgery?

Most patients can return to eating any foods immediately following surgery! Dr. Botbol will provide you with specific instructions regarding your case prior to and following your procedure.
